USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. In Ukraine it is most often bought with hryvnia through the P2P section of a crypto exchange, at an exchange office or directly from another person. Below we go through the options and then give a step-by-step guide for the most common one, P2P.

Ways to buy USDT in Ukraine
- P2P on an exchange (Binance, Bybit, OKX and others). You buy from another user, and the exchange holds the seller's coins in escrow and guarantees the trade. The price is close to the market and there is a wide choice of payment methods. This is the main option we cover below.
- Exchange office or crypto exchanger. Convenient and quick, but the price is usually worse than P2P and reliability depends on the service. Comparison: P2P vs exchanger.
- Buying with a card on an exchange or in an app. Quick, but with a fee and a worse rate. Availability for hryvnia changes, so check on the exchange itself.
- A private deal with a person. The riskiest option: there is no escrow, so fraud risk is high.
What to prepare
- An exchange account with verification (KYC). Without it P2P is usually unavailable.
- A bank card in your own name. Monobank, PrivatBank and other Ukrainian banks are supported in most ads. Payments from someone else's card are risky.
- Two-factor protection on the exchange and at the bank.
- A wallet or withdrawal address if you plan to send USDT outside the exchange. TRC20 is usually chosen for cheap transfers, and the difference between networks is covered in the TRC20 vs ERC20 comparison.
Step by step: buying USDT via P2P
- Compare prices. Open the USDT to UAH rate and see where the lowest reliable buy price is right now. The gap between exchanges can reach a percent or more.
- Open P2P on the exchange and choose Buy, the USDT coin and the UAH currency.
- Filter by bank and amount. Choose ads that accept your bank and whose limits fit your amount. There are separate pages for Monobank and PrivatBank: with Monobank, with PrivatBank.
- Check the seller. Number of trades, completion rate, account age. A price that is too good is a reason for caution: how to spot a fake ad.
- Open the order and pay. Pay only to the details in the order on the exchange and only from your own account. Respect the timer.
- Confirm payment and wait for the USDT. Do not release or confirm the trade until you see the result in the exchange app.
More on every step, limits and safety: how to buy USDT with hryvnia via P2P.
How much it costs
In P2P you pay the ad's price, and the exchange usually does not charge the buyer a fee. Extra costs are your bank's transfer fee and the network fee when withdrawing USDT. The real cost depends on the exchange and payment method, so compare prices before the trade: how much does it cost to buy USDT via P2P.
Safety rules
- Do not pay from someone else's card and do not ask a third person to pay for you.
- Do not leave the order chat or move to messengers at a seller's request.
- Check the recipient name and amount before transferring.
- Use small amounts for your first trades.
- Never share codes, passwords or a seed phrase with anyone.
