How MetaRates calculates rates: methodology
This page explains how MetaRates gets, filters and compares P2P prices. The goal is simple: you should understand why a price is shown and be able to trust it.
1. Where the data comes from
We read the public P2P ads of six exchanges: Binance, Bybit, OKX, HTX, KuCoin and Bitget. These are the same ads you see in the P2P section of the exchange. We have no access to anyone's accounts, payments or private data, and trades happen only on the exchanges through their escrow.
2. How often we refresh
The live table on the site and in the app refreshes about once a minute. Separately, every 5 minutes we record each exchange's best prices into our own history, which powers the charts, averages and "is it a good moment" hints.
3. Which ads we treat as reliable
- the seller has at least 50 completed trades;
- the completion rate is at least 92%.
Anything below the threshold is left out of the "best price" calculation. In the app you can switch the filter off, but it is on by default because the cheapest orders often turn out to be traps.
4. How we screen out suspiciously cheap ads
Among each exchange's reliable ads we take the median price and drop ads whose price deviates from it by more than 4%. This removes bait prices and listing mistakes. The number of hidden ads is shown under the table.
5. What "best price" means
For buying USDT it is the lowest price among reliable ads, for selling the highest. If you enter an amount, only ads whose limits fit it are used. If you pick a payment method, only ads that support it.
6. How arbitrage is calculated
We look for "buy on exchange A, sell on exchange B" pairs and compute the net result: buy USDT with your amount, subtract the transfer fee between exchanges (1 USDT by default, adjustable) and an optional trade fee, then sell at B's price. Ad limits on both sides are respected, so the result reflects a trade you can actually make, not just a price gap. The calculation is indicative: it does not know about payment delays, bank fees or price moves during the trade.
7. Limitations to keep in mind
- Ads change every second, so the price on the exchange may differ from what we show.
- We do not check an individual seller's reputation beyond the exchange's public metrics.
- The data is informational and not financial advice. Verify details on the exchange before trading.
8. Independence
MetaRates receives no payment from exchanges for ordering or highlighting in the table. Sorting depends only on price. The service is not an exchange or exchanger and does not process payments. About us: About. System status: status page.
