You need to withdraw USDT from an exchange to your own wallet if you want to keep the coins under your control or move them to another exchange. Blockchain transfers are irreversible: neither the exchange nor support can cancel a mistake. So it is important to go through every step carefully.
Step 1. Prepare a wallet
- Install a wallet that supports the TRON (TRC20) network, for example TronLink, Trust Wallet or a hardware wallet.
- Store the seed phrase offline and never show it to anyone. Nobody has the right to ask for it: neither support nor a "chat admin".
- Copy the USDT address on TRC20. It starts with the letter
Tand has 34 characters.
Step 2. Choose the right network
In the withdrawal form the exchange offers several networks (TRC20, ERC20, BEP20 and others). The withdrawal network must match the network of the wallet address. If the address is TRC20, choose exactly TRC20. The difference between networks is described in the article TRC20, ERC20 or BEP20.
Step 3. Create the withdrawal
- Open the exchange → Wallet → Withdraw → USDT.
- Paste the address and check that its start and end (4–6 characters) match your wallet.
- Choose the TRC20 network and enter the amount. The exchange will show the fee: it is fixed in USDT and depends on the network and the exchange.
- Confirm with 2FA and the code from email.
Step 4. A test transfer first
For a large amount, first send a small quantity (for example 5–10 USDT) and make sure it arrived. You pay the fee twice, but it is cheap insurance against an address mistake.
Step 5. Check the transaction
After sending, the exchange shows a transaction ID (TxID). Paste it into the TRON blockchain explorer and make sure the status is "Confirmed" and the recipient matches your wallet.
Common mistakes
- The wrong network. Withdrawing on ERC20 to a TRC20 address (or the reverse) usually leads to lost coins.
- Clipboard address swap. Malicious software substitutes another address. Always compare the start and the end.
- Foreign links and "support" in messengers. Real support never asks for a seed phrase and never makes you move coins "for verification".
- A deposit address of another exchange for the wrong network. When sending to another exchange, take the deposit address specifically for USDT on the needed network.
How much does it cost
The withdrawal fee is fixed in USDT and depends on the exchange and the network. TRC20 is usually the cheapest among popular ones, but the exact amount is always shown in the withdrawal form. The wallet usually adds no extra fees. This material is informational and is not financial advice.
Frequently asked questions
After confirmation a transaction is irreversible. If the exchange has not processed the withdrawal yet, try to cancel it in the history, but once it is sent to the blockchain nothing can be changed.
Usually from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on network load and the exchange checks.
TRX is not needed to receive USDT. It is needed for sending from this wallet later (network fee).
Keep the seed phrase offline, use a hardware wallet for larger amounts, enable 2FA on the exchange and do not follow links from messages.
Partner links: if you register, we may receive a reward from the exchange. Your terms do not change.
